One-game playoffs are fucking awesome

peavy.jpegSeriously. Anything that can get me excited about a Padres-Rockies game is a pretty amazing feat. The question is whether to root for old man Greg Maddux to make the playoffs, which will obviously be scintillating, or boy wonder Troy Tulowitzki to make the playoffs, which won’t be quite as exciting but will be fun to say repeatedly.

I have decided to base my lifelong opinion of Jake Peavy on this game. If dude mows down Helton/Holliday/Hawpe et al, my big-time man-crush will continue. If he blows it, I will forever remember him as a choker.

ESPN was showing the career performances of the Rockies’ big guns versus Peavy, and they all fared reasonably well — Holliday seemed to have the least success, going something like 4-15 with a homer — which means this game could be quite interesting. Rockies starter Josh Fogg sucks, but so does the Padres offense, so that’s a wash — meaning it all comes down to Peavy.

Peavy, Holliday and pitchers (see what I did there?) at Kilowatt. Should be a nice Monday.
