That was one of the more exciting games I’ve seen in quite a while, and I didn’t even get to start watching until the bottom of the 8th.
Peavy was mediocre to sucky, which I guess means the man-crush is over. Tulowitzki came up with a big double off Trevor Hoffman in the bottom of the 13th to bring the Rox within one, and then the Holliday triple and Carroll sac fly ended it. Baseball’s all-time saves leader (Hoffman) fails to record a single out in allowing a team that wears PURPLE FUCKING VESTS to advance to the NLDS. Whether or not Holliday touched home plate is kinda moot since the Rox got hosed on that should-have-been home run call anyway.
The important thing to take away from this game is that the man-crush now shifts from Jake Peavy to Troy Tulowitzki. Yeah, Poland! But seriously, if the Phillies don’t dispatch the Rockies and we have a D-Backs/Rox NLCS, I will kill Ryan Howard for allowing an all-vest series. Fuck that.
