Unnhh! C.C. Sabathia took home a much-deserved AL Cy Young award on Tuesday, proof that there is still a small bit of logic being passed around amongst the Baseball Writers Association of America.
Dude threw 241 innings, struck out 209 batters and walked only 37 while sporting an ERA+ of 143. Filthy. Plus he is fat/jolly, and from Vallejo. Quite the resumé.
I still think Troy Tulowitzki should have beaten out Ryan Braun for the NL Rookie of the Year Award. They both put up great offensive numbers, yet Braun kicked 26 balls across the infield on his way to a sub-.900 fielding percentage at third base, while Tulo led his team to the World Series playing the toughest position in the game with a stellar .987 fielding percentage. His range factor was 1.31 higher than league average, meaning that he accounted for about an out and a half per game more than an average shortstop. That’s pretty damn amazing.
